I really am Quilting, Honestly

(8 miles)

To say it is hot outside is putting it mildly. I, who do not normally perspire (sweat !!) actually have water dripping off my chin. My glasses do not stay on my nose which makes it nearly impossible to keep reading while I walk. At least I don't seem to have any worry about seeing snakes since the pavement would cook their little bellies.

The heat is conducive to getting inside projects, like quilting, done, that is for sure. I just completed the top of the Wedding Quilt last night. As soon as I get the top quilted, I will take a picture. Of course, since it is white on white, that could be the biggest challenge to date. I should probably hold off on that last statement until I have finished the quilting...gulp

Just Quilting Away

4 miles

Guess what I should be doing as we speak? More walking. Well, that has to take a back seat to my blog. We all know how important that is to me, heh heh.

Talk about panic. I have spent the last week searching for the remainder of the silk that I need for my son's wedding quilt. Dumb me, I thought I could just go back to the original shop. They told me they had no idea when it would, or IF it would come in. Major GULP. Perseverance is not my middle name by accident, my friend. You guessed it. I found the fabric yesterday. Did I mention I found the cutest pair of shoes in the process?

Missing Quilted Rug Image

Oops. Obviously I did not get the rug image up and running. Maybe as soon as my "pro," aka, husband is back, we can take care of that. In the meantime, Happy Quilting.

Quilt on a Rug

(6 miles)

Jeeez. It always amazes me that I let more than a day go by without writing. It does not seem like I skipped a day. Perhaps it is because I skipped two days?? sigh...

Anyway, I thought you might enjoy this picture of the rug I made for the Rockland Corporation. They saw my rug in our booth at Spring Market and asked me to make one for them. This is the result. Hmmm. As I write this, it occurs to me that I might have already shown this to you. Now I am really getting concerned about my mind. Gulp. Oh well. Our "Quilt on a Rug" pattern has been popular beyond our wildest imagination so it might not hurt to repeat myself.

I have been up since 3:30 a.m. Just could not get the devastation of the Gulf out of my mind and heart. I have to keep busy so I won't cry all the time. So, I decided to get on the computer and create directions for my Pretty in Pink quilt. This is the one I made to raffle off for our fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research.

Quilting FUN?

(I will be posting my walking distance for the day until I actually walk the walk, so I can then talk the talk. Today, five miles)

How much fun can I have if my sewing machine keeps giving me fits !! I am beyond frustrated. Also, I am on a major timeline. I keep telling my machine that and she just does not seem to care, not one whit. I am thinking, "Girlfriend, shape up or ship out."

I bought the white silk, yesterday. Whew, this is gonna set me back some serious coinage. Oh well, I could be the Mother-of-the-Bride instead of the Groom, heh heh. How about I include images of the ongoing project? These are the first two blocks: Each is going to be 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" Remember, Dianne, "patience is a virtue."

Quilts? What is that, exactly?

Wow, it seems like forever since I have had time to make a new quilt. This does not mean that I do not have several to finish, however. For the first year or so of my quilting "career," I did not understand what folks were talking about when they mentioned, UFO's. Ha. It has not taken me long to figure that one out. I have a list....

The list will have to wait. My son has just announced his engagement, and the wedding date. August 29. Yes, of 2010. And, as part of their ceremony, there is a quilt involved. And, guess who is going to be making it. In my spare time....Now to go buy the silk, and design the quilt, and make it, in between shows, of course. Let me apologize, now, for my future slighting of the blog since I feel neglect in that area coming on, BIG time.

I began my practice walking (4 miles yesterday, 4 miles today). Please don't forget to make that donation that I know you were intending to make. $5.00 per raffle ticket. We are soooooo behind on our fund raising. Usually we are done by now. Instead, we have 25% done, GULP. The link is at the bottom of the page, click on the picture. Thanks, in advance!!!!

How could I resist?

As we departed for home, we decided to stop for lunch at the local restaurant across the highway. I had to have just one more platter of delicious fried shrimp. As we left, I saw this sign. I don't know, but it seemed like the sign was talking to me, personally, especially after all the food I had eaten over this week. So, the "butt stopped here."

There is a God

Wow, o, wow, where is the camera when you need one? While walking on the beach we spotted dolphins. This, in and of itself, is a fairly common sight here in the Gulf. However, as I was talking to my friend, Jan, telling her that I had never seen one leap completely free of the water, as if on command, one of the dolphins leaped totally out of the water as if he were doing an act in one of the local shows. It was as awesome as it gets. To me, this magnificent creature is proof there is someone, something out there, more amazing than any of us mere "mortals." Thank you, God, for allowing us to be a participant in this show.

How about Pity?

As I mentioned yesterday, forget about the issue of making anyone jealous. Now I am shooting for Pity. We woke up to another day of rain. It took until nearly noon for it to start to let up. Actually, I woke up about 5:30 and started playing with the computer. For some reason, I was aching from head to toe so I decided to take some Aspirin. A little while later, I decided to take more aspirin. Did I mention that "Patience" is my middle name? Anyway, this time I thought it might be prudent to read the label. Yikes, the label said, "Aspirin, PM." Yep, you guessed it. Within 30 minutes I was back in LaLa Land. Oh well, I did not think about the rain for several more hourzzzzzzzzzz.....

Forget Quilts, Just Bring on the SUN

I am definitely being punished for trying to make anyone jealous. I woke up to more rain this morning. What to do, what to do? Hmmm. Oh yeah, there is always shopping do be done. Gotta do my part to keep the economy rollling.
